Davao City will be our main phase of development in Mindanao – SM Prime Holdings

Teresita Sy Coson of SM was in Davao to attend the city’s local chamber’s business conference. She was able to impart business techniques and their company’s vision for Mindanao. She was able to share positive feedback about the city’s growth and SM is very optimistic with the economy of Davao City.

Being around the country and with investments in key cities, it is interesting to note how graceful and positive she is towards the current economic upward trend in Davao.

“I think we see Davao is growing quite fast and I think we like to serve this community, and not only that, you see around you, there is really a less stressful environment and it’s good to be working in this kind of environment than what we have in Manila.” said Teresita Sy Coson.

Teresita Sy Coson is the daughter of  Henry Sy, owner of SM  and one of the respected tycoons in the country today.

“Many times we wish that our head office is here in Davao.  We have cleaner city, we have cleaner air, less traffic and a less stressful environment.  We like to be more here, knowing how rich Mindanao is in resources, how cosmopolitan Davao is right now and how dynamic its people are,” she said.

Her company is currently constructing the second SM mall in Davao City. It will be located in the former Lanang Country Club, a mixed use multi billion project. Under construction today is the mall which will include an international brand hotel by Radisson called Park Inn. A convention center will also be built in the area. It is also the area for the planned condominium projects of SM.

“You really have a lot of things to offer here.  I think you would be an attractive area for a lot of Asian countries because when we were looking into the Asean discussion, most of the discussions have been more from Mindanao,” said Coson, who represents the Philippines at the Asean Business Council.
“When we had our discussion, we concluded that we should work more for Mindanao using Davao as the main phase for developments. ” she said.

  3. the advantage of davao city is yung napakalaking land area, we have a lot of suburban dist.like calinan, toril, buhangin, agdao etc..this particular dist..qualified nato maging munisipyo, lalo na pag maconsolidate na ang highway itong mga distrito na to,just like edsa in metro manila.mas dadami pa ang mga investor d2 sa davao f matutuloy na ang mga infra project, particular na yung pagtatayu ng coastal road, magiging commercial na ang area.at ibawal na ang pag tira sa shoreline lalo na yung mga illegal settlers, bigyan cla ng desinting tirahan ng gobyerno, plz…division of davao city into a multiple city disagree ako jan.one davao city lang tayo like in NYC,USA…PAdayon sa pag uswag davao city……go..go..go…..

i agree…hindi na kailangan hati-hatiin ang davao city into another city kc mas need sa isa ka city ang malaking land area for future developments..para endless ang opportunities for putting up businesses..

Nganong Pangit ang CDO? joke lang… gwapo pud ang CDO… pero mas Gwapo jud ang DAVAO CITY. busy na kaayo ang JP laurel if ever magopen na ang SM North. unta nagadevice na ug plan ang city government para sa future sa davao. crossing the bridge when we get there might not work… and may prove things to be too late na para ayuson sa sunod. tan-awa ang Manila… pangit sangatanan kung icompare sa ubang capital cities sa neighboring countries nato.

  7. hangtod karon na amaze jud ko sa davao..every time naay bag o nga development excited kaayo ko..mas maayo bitaw kong dili na i sud divide ang davao mas ok kung mas dako ang land area..kudos davao..go go go..dapat maalasan pa nato ang manila ug cebu..hehe
