Robinsons Land Inc. – the largest landlord of office space, the second largest diversified real estate company in the Philippines, and the second largest shopping center operator in the country is going to build a mall in Davao City which would be designed to house business process outsourcing operations such as call centers.Â
Robinsons Davao which would be a mall and an IT/BPO facility is targetted to be completed before the end of 2008. It will have a gross floor area of 13,000 square meters. 5,000 square meters would be dedicated for BPO operations such as a call center. With such floor area, this would be the largest BPO facility in Mindanao.
“We have designed a 2 level shopping mall to include our retail affiliates Robinsons Supermarket and Handyman Do It Best, together with quick service restaurant, health and beauty outlets and a call center at the second level,” said Robinsons Malls general manager Cornelio Mapa.
He added that “this format will easily compliment the lifestyle of call center employees who look forward to some rest and recreation after work.”

I really hope this becomes a reality. I’ve heard the news about Robinsons building a mall at that site years ago, and until now, nothing’s been built.

^^ Actually there is….if you would visit the site again today, they are now clearing the site for the construction of the mall. Also, the news you have heard years ago were just rumors about Robinsons Land plan to build a mall in Davao – there was no definite and exact location yet. This year, the location has already been named and Robinsons Land President Frederick Go himself went to Davao few months ago to inspect the site for the project.

Just to clarify speculations, I have been to the site early this evening. There were about three concrete mixer trucks queueing to get inside the fenced premises. A conspicuous sign containing the building permit number has also been displayed. What is missing is the official rendering which, I believe, would be posted in the site any time soon.
This is not a mere conjecture. This project is as real as it could get.

It would be a good news because there would be a lot of job opportunities that awaits for Mindanao people. As, I know Robinson’s Land is one of the biggest company in Manila and they do have a lot of branches and it is a privilege if our region do have one. If this became a reality, this is the first branch ever of Robinson’s here in Davao City.

I am a real Davaoenya lady, who now resides in Liestal, Switzerland for 24-1/2 years. I am so curious of the daily happenings and updates in Davao.
